This piece carries the weight of calling. It’s about being deeply connected to a place or people—not from striving, but from knowing. Steady. Centered. Rooted in identity.
This is the first in my Crowns of Glory series—portraits of women adorned with crowns made of living things. Each one explores a different kind of strength and purpose. This piece, in particular, speaks to what it means to be called to a city, a nation, a community—carrying its weight not as a burden, but as a part of who you are.
The massive bloom above her head is wild and unruly—like destiny often is. The city beneath her is woven into her foundation. She’s not separate from the work. She is the soil, the scaffolding, and the vessel all at once.
